Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about NAATI Vietnamese–English translation: individual certification, acceptance, in vs outside Australia, payment and retention.
- What is a translation by a NAATI Certified Translator?
- It is a translation produced by a NAATI Certified Translator who certifies that the translation is true and accurate, with a verifiable practitioner number (CPN) and a certification statement. NAATI certifies individual translators, not businesses.
- Can I use this translation for an Australian visa application?
- The translation is suitable for preparing a submission to an Australian authority or organisation, including a visa application. Whether to accept your application is always decided by the receiving authority; no translation provider can guarantee acceptance.
- Do I need to upload a clear original?
- Yes. Upload a clear, well-lit photo or scan that shows the full edges. A clear image helps check names, dates and numbers accurately and avoids delays. If part of the document is illegible, the translator notes it in the translation.
- How long does the translation take?
- It depends on the tier you choose (standard, 24-hour, or same-day when capacity is available) and how complex the document is. Times shown are estimates in business days; multi-page or non-standard files may need longer.
- Can I verify the certification details myself?
- Yes. The translation shows the translator’s practitioner number (CPN), which you can look up at NAATI’s official credential checker and then confirm that the details match.
- Can I request a document not in the list?
- Yes. If your document is not listed, upload it — we will review it and quote it. Documents that need review are quoted before any work begins.
- Can I use the service from Vietnam? Does translating in Vietnam disadvantage my file?
- Yes. A translation done outside Australia is accepted if it states the translator’s name, address, phone and qualifications; NAATI is not required offshore. Home Affairs does not deprioritise or reject a translation just because it was done outside Australia.
- Is the company itself certified by NAATI?
- No. NAATI certifies individual practitioners, not businesses. Each translation is produced and certified by a NAATI Certified Translator under their own practitioner number (CPN).
- Will my translation definitely be accepted?
- We provide a correctly certified NAATI translation, but acceptance is always decided by the receiving authority. No translation provider can guarantee acceptance.
- Do you check whether my document is genuine?
- No. The translator certifies that the TRANSLATION is true and accurate. We do not assess the authenticity of the original and make no representation about it.
- How do I pay and what receipt do I get?
- Once your quote is ready we send payment instructions; paying is what tells us to begin. The Australian market gets a receipt; the Vietnamese market gets a VAT e-invoice.
- How long do you keep my documents?
- A 30-day download window; records kept up to 60 days; the source ID image is deleted earliest. Tax/accounting records are kept separately as required by law.
